Sometimes the ISIS Professional licence is not activated, which is usually due to a configuration issue which can be overcome easily. The table below gives a list of reasons for this happening. When this happens, the Free version of ISIS opens, which is limited to operating with models of up to 200 nodes (or in case of grid functionality of ISIS Mapper, with grids less than 10 Mb in size).

The opening dialogue window contains the code number which should be mentioned when contacting the ISIS support team. However, most such problems can be solved by the user with reference to the table below. The ISIS support team will be happy to help you clarify this explanation as well as lead you through the actions required to solve the problems.

Code 1 - Environment Variables not set
Reboot PC or set the environment variables ISIS and ISISDBD to the location into which ISIS was installed, typically c:\isis, e.g.: ISIS=C:\ISIS and ISISDBD=C:\ISIS
Set the user and system variables (via Control Panel > System > Advanced > Environment Variables, making sure admin rights are enabled. 
Make sure the folder <ISIS>DBD exists, where <ISIS> is the installation folder.

Code 2 - Generic Error
Contact ISIS support.

Code 3 - Dongle not upgraded to recent version
Run C:\isis\dupdate.exe with the dongle attached. Also make sure that you have a valid Support and Maintenance Contract for this particular licence.

Code 4 - License file (isis.set) not found
Copy the isis.set licence file supplied with your software to the isis bin directory.

Code 5 - Dongle drivers not installed
Run "C:\isis\sentinel system driver installer\Sentinel System Driver Installer 7.4.0.exe" or get the most recent dongle drivers from www.safenet-inc.com/support/tech/sentinel.asp. NB Admin rights are required to install these drivers; you may also be required to restart the PC.

Code 6 - Dongle not found
Insert dongle.  Also check for Code 5.

Code 7 - Dongle/license file mismatch
Make sure the licence file (check the line "ID=..." in the isis.set file) matches the dongle ID.

Code 8 - Network licence problem
Contact ISIS support
